I bought these mainly to mark up pdfs since I'm a graduate student who has a lot of reading to do. When I do my readings (using either PDFExpert or Goodreader: these are the best pdf annotating apps for the ipad that I know of), I like to highlight, underline stuff and also to insert comments. Sometimes, I prefer to insert comments in writing rather than typing up something in a comment box that remains hidden away until you click on it. If you zoom in and use this stylus to write, it actually works very well! So I can finally get the experience of actually writing down my thoughts while reading a paper using the stylus and these apps.I've tried this with painting apps as well. They seem to work just fine. So I recommend this brand..its good value for 6 styluses! I have to admit that I did not test all 6 pens, I'll report back if something is amiss when I get to testing the other pens. I tried the black one and one other pen and they both worked very well.Some people might think that a stylus is a useless accessory if you are not using it to write or draw. I used to think that too but now that I've begun to use it, I see that its much easier to click on links (which I often miss with my thick fingers), and it leaves no finger prints on the screen (for obvious reasons).. so you should consider getting a stylus even if you have minimal writing/drawing to do.The included lanyard is frankly quite useless however. The keyring that attaches the lanyard to the pen doesn't bend back sufficiently to ensure a tight fit (it came off on its own after I had put it through the stylus). Also, if you don't have a place to store the stylus when not in use, its annoying for the stylus to be dangling from a lanyard. So I took it off completely. I just put the stylus into the bag along with the other accessories.As it stands currently, I recommend this product very highly to people looking for a cheap stylus solution that doesn't compromise too much on quality.
